'The Raiders F--king Suck,' NFL Players Sound Off on Tom Brady's TV, Owner Roles in New Poll

Julia StumbaughJan 30, 2026

NFL players recently surveyed by The Athletic are reportedly fine with potential overlap between Tom Brady's broadcast and team ownership responsibilities, both because of Brady's legendary playing career and the Las Vegas Raiders' struggles in 2025.

Brady had his minority stake in the Raiders approved in October 2024, the month after he made his broadcasting debut for Fox Sports.

According to a poll of 76 players conducted as part of The Athletic's annual anonymous player interviews, 64 respondents (84.2 percent) responded "Yes" when asked if they were "OK with Tom Brady being allowed to be an owner and broadcaster in the NFL."

Five players answered "No," and seven said they didn't know or didn't care, according to The Athletic.

According to The Athletic, some respondents cited Brady's playing career as the reason behind their yes vote, including one NFC offensive player who said that "only G.O.A.T.'s can do that type of stuff."

Other players, according to The Athletic, pointed out that the overlap hadn't seem to help the Raiders much last season.

"The Raiders f--king suck," said one player, described by The Athletic as an NFC defensive veteran. "How is it helping with that? What are we talking about?"

Questions about overlap between Brady's roles popped up last September, when he was spotted in the Raiders coaching box during the team's Week 2 matchup against the Chargers.

The NFL originally restricted Brady from attending production meetings with teams ahead of his broadcasts in 2024, although it eased that restriction to allow Brady to participate virtually last season, per the AP's Joe Reedy.

The change put Brady on track to meet with some teams shortly before they played Las Vegas, like when he called a Week 3 game featuring the Chicago Bears just before they played the Raiders in Week 4.

The Raiders suffered a 25-24 loss in that game and went on to finish 3-14 amid struggles from Geno Smith, whose trade-and-sign was reportedly endorsed by Brady.

Las Vegas may need to find more success in 2026 in order to spark any more player concerns over what intel Brady might be gaining in broadcast production meetings. That improvement will start with a strong 2026 draft, in which the Raiders are currently slated to hold the No. 1 pick.
