Giants Rumors on Kliff Kingsbury, New OC Candidates amid John Harbaugh's Search
Former Washington Commanders offensive coordinator Kliff Kingsbury interviewed with the New York Giants for the offensive coordinator role under head coach John Harbaugh on Saturday, NFL insider Jordan Schultz reported.
ESPN's Jordan Raanan reported Friday that Kingsbury was "expected to be in the mix."
Former Tennessee Titans head coach Brian Callahan is also reportedly involved in the search, ESPN's Jeremy Fowler added Sunday.
The Giants have already requested OC interviews with Indianapolis Colts passing game coordinator Alex Tanney and Denver Broncos passing game coordinator and quarterbacks coach Davis Webb, according to Raanan.
The franchise has also held OC interviews with Atlanta Falcons wide receivers coach Robert Prince and plan to speak with Colts offensive coordinator Jim Bob Cooter, per NFL Network's Tom Pelissero and ESPN's Peter Schrager.
Two of the candidates on that list, Webb and Tanney, briefly played for the Giants during their own careers as NFL quarterbacks.
The Giants are also interviewing Chargers quarterback coach Shane Day, per Schultz.
Harbaugh had previously been linked to a potential reunion with Todd Monken, his former offensive coordinator with the Baltimore Ravens, before Monken was hired as head coach of the Cleveland Browns.
Whoever takes the job as Harbaugh's next offensive coordinator will be tasked with managing the development of Jaxson Dart, who finished the 2026 season as an Offensive Rookie of the Year finalist despite dealing with concussion concerns and posting a top-ten sack percentage.
Kingsbury has past experience with developing young quarterbacks with the Arizona Cardinals, where he served as head coach during when Kyler Murray earned an OROY award and two Pro Bowl nods in his first three seasons.
He later went on to work as the Commanders' offensive coordinator as Jayden Daniels won his own OROY honor and led Washington to the NFC Championship game after the 2024 season.
Daniels took a step back amid multiple injuries that limited him to seven games last season, however, and Kingsbury was dismissed by the Commanders after a 5-12 finish to the campaign.
Should Harbaugh decide to pursue Kingsbury as an OC candidate, Harbaugh would hope the former Cardinals leader and Commanders offensive coordinator could help Dart take a step forward in his second NFL season.
Harbaugh has already hired former Titans defensive coordinator Dennard Wilson as DC, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported last week. Both he and Chris Horton, who has reportedly been hired as the Giants' special teams coach, have previous experience working with Harbaugh in Baltimore.
