Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere has not played this season due to a fractured leg, but he is making significant strides toward a long-awaited first-team return.

Continue for updates.

Latest on Wilshere's Training Status

Sunday, Feb. 21

"In the last month he has been able to step up his work-load—and manager Arsene Wenger is confident he will be back with the first-team squad next Monday," reported Steve Stammers of the Daily Mirror. He added: "If all goes well then Wilshere will be available for the last six games of Arsenal’s Premier League programme."

Wilshere Comments on Recovery

Thursday, Feb. 4

"[My recovery is] going well," Wilshere told Arsenal Player (h/t Jack Davies of Goal.com). "I'm back on the pitch, and I'm just trying to build my fitness up because everyone knows how tough it is to play in the Premier League.

"I'm working on it, and I'm slowly getting there.

"Sometimes it's been difficult to stay positive, especially after the injuries that I've had, which have been frustrating, but as the injury goes, you get closer to full fitness and you see the light at the end of the tunnel, then you start to think about coming back and getting involved in the team."

England Midfielder Needs to Gain Momentum

Wilshere made just 14 Premier League appearances last season and showed sparks of his best but again saw his 2015-16 campaign delayed, this time by a hairline fracture.

Anticipation was building around the England playmaker in the build-up to this season, but those expectations once again proved futile as Wilshere's fitness curse struck again.

With UEFA Euro 2016 on the horizon, it's vital for Wilshere to not only return to full fitness, but to find a stretch of form.
