Eagles Legend Jason Kelce's Dunk Attempt at 76ers Game Postponed to Later Date

Adam WellsJan 29, 2026

In the surest sign yet that the Philadelphia 76ers' vibes were getting too good this season, arguably the most anticipated dunk attempt in the history of Xfinity Mobile Arena will have to wait.

Per Derek Bodner of PHLY Sports, Jason Kelce's dunk attempt scheduled to take place on Thursday night during the Sixers' game against the Sacramento Kings has been postponed.

The 76ers originally announced last week that Kelce would be given the platform to try dunking a basketball on a regulation rim. This came after the Philadelphia Eagles legend revealed on the New Heights podcast in December that he was embarking on a dunk-specific training regimen.

It's unclear what, if anything, happened that led to the postponement. Even though Kelce retired from the NFL after the 2023 season, he has maintained some of his football athleticism.

The Eagles posted a video in October showing Kelce going through a traditional NFL workout. He was clocked as hitting 19.72 mph during a sprint exercise.

There is a lot of difference between football athletic and basketball athletic, not to mention trying to dunk on a 10-foot rim at the age of 38, but Kelce has never been one to shy away from a challenge.

Hopefully things work out so that Kelce is able to give it a go at some point. The Sixers still have 15 home games remaining in the regular season, so there is time to reschedule this.
