Tommaso Ciampa Debuts on AEW Dynamite After WWE Exit, 1st Match Revealed for Collision
Tommaso Ciampa made his AEW Dynamite debut on Wednesday after his lengthy WWE tenure came to an end.
Ciampa answered Mark Briscoe's TNT Championship Open Challenge and will face Briscoe for the title on Saturday at AEW Collision.
On Jan. 21, Ciampa announced that his WWE contract was set to expire soon in a post on X.
Ciampa first signed with WWE in 2015, forming the duo known as DIY with Johnny Gargano in NXT.
The pair eventually won the NXT Tag Team Championships, while Ciampa secured the NXT Championship twice. As part of the main roster on SmackDown, DIY became two-time WWE tag team champions.
Ciampa's final WWE match came on Dec. 15, as he and Gargano lost to Carmelo Hayes and Ilja Dragunov.
The 40-year-old has some familiarity with his first AEW opponent, as he faced Briscoe multiple times during their shared tenure in Ring of Honor before his WWE stint.
Briscoe is attempting to retain his TNT Championship once again after defending the title in a match with El Clon on Wednesday.
