Teofimo Lopez Jr. Rips Shakur Stevenson, 'People Left His Fights Early Because of His Skill Set'

Shakur Stevenson is attempting to become a four-division champion when he faces WBO super lightweight champion Teofimo Lopez Jr., but his opponent isn't worried about his skills.

While speaking to ESPN's Andreas Hale, Lopez called out Stevenson for his fighting style, which is often perceived as boring.

"Success is all about entertainment," Lopez told Hale. "We've seen it in the past when Shakur fought at Prudential Center in front of his hometown fans and those people left his fights early because of his skill set. I think he has a lot of pressure on him to entertain, so maybe we're going to see something different out of him [against me]. But from what I've seen, he's not that exciting."

While Stevenson has an undefeated record at 24-0, he's frequently faced criticisms for his measured approach in the ring. He only has 11 career knockout wins, as he usually picks his opponents apart with accurate punches rather than throwing power shots.

Lopez is 22-1 with 13 career knockouts, and he also is known more for his precision striking than his punching power. Fans at Madison Square Garden on Saturday could be in for a 12-round war as opposed to a quick main event where one of them hits the canvas.

Despite the criticisms, Stevenson feels he's done enough to earn the respect of the boxing world, and he's ready to prove himself once again when he faces Lopez.

"I don't let that s--t bother me anymore," Stevenson told Hale. "I just keep it moving and training hard. They haven't had any choice but to accept me. And after I win this fight, they ain't going to have no choice but to accept me and respect me."
