Timothy RappJan 27, 2026

Major League Baseball will have a slightly later trade deadline in the 2026 season.

According to Mark Feinsand of MLB.com, this year's trade deadline will be on Aug. 3 at 6 p.m. ET. During the 2025 season the trade deadline was Thursday, July 31 at 6 p.m. ET.

Last year's trade deadline had its fair share of fireworks.

The San Diego Padres acquiring star reliever Mason Miller and the Houston Astros bringing back Carlos Correa headlined the biggest trades ahead of the cutoff, while the Seattle Mariners added Eugenio Suárez and the Philadelphia Phillies brought aboard closer Jhoan Duran.

In total, there were over 60 trades completed.

Plenty of changes have followed this winter between free agency and the trade market, with Kyle Tucker joining the Los Angeles Dodgers, Pete Alonso signing with the Baltimore Orioles, Dylan Cease signing with Toronto Blue Jays, Alex Bregman joining the Chicago Cubs, Cody Bellinger remaining with the New York Yankees and Kyle Schwarber and J.T. Realmuto staying in Philly.

And then there were the New York Mets, who added Bo Bichette, Freddy Peralta, Devin Williams, Marcus Semien, Jorge Polanco, Luis Robert Jr. and Luke Weaver in a flurry of moves.

It's been a busy winter. Expect a busy August, too, as the trade deadline pushes past July this season.
