After losing to Justin Gaethje in the battle for the interim UFC lightweight title, Paddy Pimblett congratulated his opponent on the win.
In an Instagram post, Pimblett said he "enjoyed" the fight and said the "better man won."
"Hope everyone enjoyed my fight just as much as I did, want to thank everyone that came to support and everyone watching at home," he wrote. "I'm all good no injuries went into the fight feeling amazing had a great camp and an easy weight cut no excuses the better man won on the night. [Gaethje] congratulations brother it was an honour to share the cage with such a legend go get that undisputed title ur career deserves it. Hopefully we can run it back for the undisputed because I still know it's in my destiny to win that gold! [UFC] thank you for the opportunity yous all know I'll be back for that belt in the near future."
Gaethje defeated Pimblett in a unanimous decision, giving him the second lightweight title of his career. He lost his last lightweight title fight against Charles Oliveira in 2022.
The loss for Pimblett marked his first since 2018 and his first since making his UFC debut in 2021. While the 31-year-old has had a strong start to his career, he's still seeking his first UFC title.
