Manchester United Transfer News: Latest on Angel Di Maria and Pedro Rumours

Christopher SimpsonAug 1, 2015

Manchester United will soon be waving goodbye to Angel Di Maria as he nears a move to Paris Saint-Germain, according to the latest rumours.

Per David McDonnell of the Mirror, PSG boss Laurent Blanc said the following: "You know negotiations are in tandem [ongoing] and as Paris St Germain are both big clubs, that can be difficult. But we feel we are close to the end."

According to McDonnell's report, Di Maria will move to Paris for £46 million, substantially less than United paid for him 12 months ago.

Sports Journalists Jonas Giaever and Yousef Teclab believe the Argentinian is no longer dedicated to the Red Devils' cause after his difficulty settling in England:

The creative midfielder managed a respectable four goals and 10 assists in all competitions last term, often contending with injury or playing out of position.

Though Di Maria could be devastatingly effective for United if utilised correctly and allowed more time to settle, if the player is desperate to go, it may be for the best that the Red Devils cut their losses and move on.

Provided he settles in Paris, expect to see the Di Maria of old next term, making incisive passes and clever runs to great effect as he outclasses the defenders in Ligue 1.

Pedro Confident of United Move

United's most likely replacement for Di Maria is Barcelona forward Pedro.

According to Sean Kearns of Metro, citing Spanish outlet Cadena SER, the 28-year-old has confided in his mother that he will join the Old Trafford outfit.

"The other day the mother of Pedro told us that he is leaving for England," Jamie Lorenzo, president of Spanish club Raqui San Isidro, said. "I think it would be a good challenge for him and he would have more minutes."

Despite seeing his playing time limited at Barcelona because of their wealth of attacking talent, the Spaniard scored 11 goals and made nine assists in all competitions last season.

The attacker's pace, intelligent movement and smart finishing make him an ideal candidate to add to United's forward line, so expect him to thrive in England as he enjoys more playing time.

The Red Devils have already recruited well this summer, and the addition of Pedro would continue to make a title challenge a realistic proposition next season.
