Australian Open 2026 Results, Monday's Bracket Winners, Losers and Highlights

Joe TanseyJan 26, 2026

Thirteen of the 16 players that advanced to the 2026 Australian Open quarterfinals are top 10 seeds.

Amanda Anisimova, Iga Swiatek, Jessica Pegula and Ben Shelton were among the top 10 seeds that won on Monday to complete the star-studded quarterfinal brackets in the men's and women's singles draws.

The three players outside of the top 10 are all seeded, so there are no unseeded players remaining in either draw.

Most of the top 10 seeds have played at an incredibly high level during the first week of play in Melbourne.

That should set the stage for multiple outstanding matches as the tournament finishes up.

Men's Singles

1 of 2

No. 2 Jannik Sinner def. No. 22 Luciano Darderi, 6-1, 6-3, 7-6 (2)

No. 5 Lorenzo Musetti def. No. 9 Taylor Fritz, 6-2, 7-5, 6-4

No. 8 Ben Shelton def. No. 12 Casper Ruud, 3-6, 6-4, 6-3, 6-4

Ben Shelton became the second American man to clinch a spot in the quarterfinals with a four-set triumph over Casper Ruud.

The eighth-seeded Shelton dropped his first set of the tournament in the opening frame, but then he rebounded to win three sets in a row.

Taylor Fritz was not as fortunate on the Melbourne courts on Monday, as he fell in straight sets to No. 5 seed Lorenzo Musetti in straight sets.

Musetti faces Novak Djokovic in the final eight. Djokovic did not play in the fourth round due to an injury withdrawal by Jakub Mensik.

Shelton goes head-to-head with No. 2 seed and reigning champion Jannik Sinner.

Sinner picked up his fourth consecutive straight-set win by beating fellow Italian Luciano Darderi.

Sinner owns an 8-1 head-to-head advantage over Shelton. Sinner won all three of their Grand Slam meetings in straight sets.

Women's Singles

2 of 2

No. 2 Iga Swiatek def. Madison Inglis, 6-0, 6-3

No. 4 Amanda Anisimova def. Xin Wang, 7-6 (4), 6-4

No. 5 Elena Rybakina def. No. 21 Elise Mertens, 6-1, 6-3

No. 6 Jessica Pegula def. No. 9 Madison Keys, 6-3, 6-4

Jessica Pegula won the battle of Americans over reigning Australian Open champion Madison Keys.

Pegula, who has made the Aussie Open quarters in four of the last six years, is after her first Grand Slam title.

Pegula will face another American top-10 seed in the quarterfinals in the form of Amanda Anisimova.

Anisimova, a two-time Grand Slam runner-up in 2025, has not lost a set through four rounds.

The Pegula-Anisimova winner will take on either Iga Swiatek or Elena Rybakina.

The pair of top five seeds have combined to lose one set over four rounds, a familiar theme for the top players in both the women's and men's singles draws.
