Jarrett Stidham Takes Blame for Pivotal Fumble, Talks Impact of Snow in Broncos Loss to Patriots
Denver Broncos quarterback Jarrett Stidham owned the blame after making a crucial mistake in Sunday's AFC championship loss to the New England Patriots.
Stidham, who made his first start on Sunday after Bo Nix suffered a broken ankle in the divisional round, fumbled in the second quarter while trying to get rid of the ball. He tried to find a receiver, but it was ruled a backward pass.
"Obviously, I can't put our team in a bad situation like that," he told reporters. "I can't put the ball in a position like that, so that was completely on me... I thought I had thrown it forwards… probably should've just eaten the sack."

The Patriots capitalized on the fumble, scoring a few plays later to tie things up before halftime.
The conditions weren't ideal as snow came down for most of the game, but Stidham didn't blame the weather for the loss.
"The conditions are what they are," he said. "Both teams were playing in it."
Stidham completed 17-of-31 passes for a touchdown and an interception, along with the crucial fumble.
The Patriots made a field goal in the third quarter that proved to be the decider as both teams went scoreless the rest of the game.
