Broncos' Will Lutz Reveals How Snow May Have Impacted Game-Tying FG Being Blocked by Patriots
The Denver Broncos had the chance to potentially force overtime in Sunday's AFC Championship Game against the New England Patriots, but veteran kicker Will Lutz had his 45-yard field goal attempt blocked late in the fourth quarter.
However, Lutz revealed after the Broncos' 10-7 loss that the snowy conditions at Mile High Stadium potentially contributed to the miss, telling reporters that the team may have lined up the snap a yard short because the players couldn't see the lines on the field.
Lutz later clarified his comments:
Patriots defensive tackle Leonard Taylor III was able to get his hand up and tip Lutz's kick to preserve the three-point lead.
The Patriots advanced to Super Bowl LX, where they will face the winner of the NFC Championship Game between the Seattle Seahawks and Los Angeles Rams.
The Broncos were playing without starting quarterback Bo Nix after his season-ending ankle injury, so they will spend the rest of the offseason wondering whether Sunday's game would've had a different result if he were available.
