Gary Neville Says Jack Wilshere's Foul Chant Best Thing He'd Seen in 10 Years

Sean SwabyAug 1, 2015

If the FA's fine was any indication, there weren't too many non-Arsenal fans amused by Jack Wilshere's post-FA Cup final antics.

A quick refresher: The Arsenal midfielder repeated a popular chant with Arsenal fans that mocks their north London neighbours, Tottenham Hotspur.

Oddly, one of those who did appreciate the Englishman's candid display was former Manchester United man and Sky Sports pundit Gary Neville.

In an era when footballers lean toward stoic responses in the interest of political correctness, Neville found Wilshere's actions refreshing.

So much so he said it was the best thing he'd seen in 10 years.

He told Sport Magazine (h/t 101 Great Goals) as much.

"

When Jack Wilshere swore on a bus ride, I actually thought it was one of the best things I've seen from a football player in the past five or 10 years.

If I was a manager of players that all had that passion...alright, they'd obviously been out the night before. But the reality of it is we cry out for players to have passion, and yet we are quite critical of them when they display passion.
