Latest NFL Rumors on Puka Nacua, Jaxon Smith-Njigba's Contracts After Rams vs. Seahawks Title Game

Scott PolacekJan 25, 2026

The Los Angeles Rams and Seattle Seahawks will face each other in Sunday's NFC Championship Game with a spot in the Super Bowl on the line, but coming to terms on contract extensions with their star receivers will also reportedly be a top priority for the teams after the Lombardi Trophy is lifted.

"Both of the teams have big-time receivers who are eligible for contract extensions," NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported. "For the Los Angeles Rams, Puka Nacua … due for a massive contract extension that could make him one of the highest-paid receivers in the NFL. And then Jaxon Smith-Njigba for the Seahawks, a breakout season himself, announcing himself to the world, also contract-extension eligible."

That Nacua and Smith-Njigba are such priorities for their respective teams comes as anything but a surprise.

After all, the Seahawks star led the league with 1,793 receiving yards, while the Rams pass-catcher finished in second and just behind him with 1,715. They were the only receivers in the NFL this season with more than 1,429 yards through the air.

It was business as usual for Nacua, who was a Pro Bowler and Second-Team All-Pro selection in his rookie campaign in 2023 with 105 catches for 1,486 yards and six touchdowns. It was quite an introduction to the league for the BYU product who was just a fifth-round draft pick, and he has only built on the performance.

While injuries limited him to 11 games in his second year, he was on a similar pace with 990 receiving yards. He was at his best this season, though, with a league-best 129 catches and 10 touchdowns to go with the yardage total.

At just 24 years old, Nacua figures to continue producing at an elite level for the foreseeable future. The Rams can ensure those years of production remain with them by coming to terms on an extension this offseason.

As for Smith-Njigba, he entered the NFL with more fanfare as a first-round pick out of Ohio State in the same draft but was more of a secondary contributor with 628 receiving yards as a rookie.

However, he was a Pro Bowler last season with 1,130 yards through the air and then completely broke through in 2025 with 119 catches and 10 touchdowns.

At 23 years old, the future is also incredibly bright for the Seahawks star. Seattle will surely look to give him an extension this offseason, which would make him a franchise cornerstone for years to come as one of the best receivers in the league.
