Trinity Rodman Scores, Hyped By Fans as USWNT Win vs. Paraguay After Historic NWSL Contract

Trinity Rodman capped off a historic week by captaining the United States Women's National Team to a friendly win over Paraguay.

Rodman, who recently became the world's highest-paid women's soccer player by re-signing with the Washington Spirit, led the USWNT to a 6-0 victory on Saturday in Carson, California.

The USWNT star scored to put her team up 4-0 in the 56th minute of the win.

Rodman helped the United States win gold at the 2024 Paris Olympics, but had made just one appearance for the USWNT since due to injuries.

She had most recently suffered an MCL sprain while playing for the Spirit in October.

Fans were excited to see Rodman once more playing a key role for USWNT after being named captain ahead of Saturday's friendly.

Rodman made history earlier this week by signing a three-year deal with the Spirit with a record-breaking annual salary of $1 million, her agent told ESPN.

She could now get the chance to help the Spirit earn redemption from a second straight NWSL title game loss, during which Rodman was limited by her knee injury.

The Spirit will hope Rodman's successful USWNT return is a sign she will be fully healthy by the time the NWSL season kicks off in March.

Reilyn Turner opened scoring for the USWNT on Saturday, while Ally Sentnor recorded a brace alongside goals from Fiorella Martínez and Emma Sears. Paraguay recorded no shots on goal and just two shot attempts in the loss.

The USWNT is preparing for a 2026 season highlighted by the Concacaf W Championship, which will serve as the qualifiers for the 2027 FIFA Women's World Cup in Brazil.

The squad will return to action in Southern California on Tuesday with another friendly against Chile.
