The Berube-led Maple Leafs enter play Friday in sixth place in the Eastern Conference's Atlantic Division with 57 points.
Berube, 60, is in the midst of his second season as the Leafs' head coach. Last season, he led them to 108 points and the second round of the playoffs where they fell to the eventual Stanley Cup champion Florida Panthers.
He previously coached the Philadelphia Flyers for two seasons and the St. Louis Blues for six, winning the first Stanley Cup in Blues history in 2019.
Before becoming a coach, Berube experienced his fair share of bumps and bruises during a 17-year playing career with the Flyers, Maple Leafs, Calgary Flames, Washington Capitals and New York Islanders from 1986 to 2003.
