Bo Bichette Sends Message to Blue Jays Fans After Signing $126M Mets Contract in MLB Free Agency

Bo Bichette's decade-long tenure with the Toronto Blue Jays organization is over after he signed a three-year, $126 million contract with the New York Mets.

Bichette is understandably fond of his time in in town, however, and he provided a farewell message to fans on Wednesday, saying that Toronto "will forever be a piece of my heart."

The Blue Jays selected Bichette with a second-round pick in the 2016 MLB draft. The son of former Colorado Rockies slugger Dante Bichette played seven seasons in the bigs (2019-2025) with Toronto, making the All-Star Game twice. He led the American League in hits in 2021 and 2022 and has hit .300 or better in four seasons.

Bichette enjoyed a great season in 2025, hitting .311 (.840 OPS) with 18 home runs and 94 RBI for the American League winners. Unfortunately, a left PCL sprain suffered on Sept. 6 kept him out for the remainder of the regular season and the first two playoff rounds, but he returned for the World Series and hit .348 (.923 OPS).

Now Bichette embarks on a new chapter with the Mets, who are trying to bounce back from a disappointing season that featured a second-half collapse and an 83-win campaign that left them one game outside of the playoffs.

Bichette's bat and glove will certainly play big parts in how well the Mets do this season, and he'll make his debut for the team on March 26, when New York hosts the Pittsburgh Pirates.
