Amon-Ra St. Brown Blasts Criticism of Drew Petzing Lions Hire, Says Most Fans Don't Know 'Ball'
Amon-Ra St. Brown really isn't interested in hearing criticism from Detroit Lions fans when it comes to the team's decision to hire Drew Petzing as their new offensive coordinator.
"Do you guys have no trust in Dan (Campbell)? Do you think they'd just hire a random dude?... Most of you guys don't really know much about anything or about any ball, and you're tweeting about a coach who was hired that you guys don't like because of X, Y, Z," Brown said on his podcast.
"Don't get me wrong, I love all Lions fans. But they are so quick to make judgments… Bro, relax. Calm down. Let the whole thing play out. Just let it play out and relax."

Lions fans surely have a high standard when it comes to offensive production at this point.
After all, the team finished in the top five in the league in both points and yardage during each of Ben Johnson's three seasons as offensive coordinator from 2022 through 2024. It led the league in scoring in his final season with the position before he became the head coach of the Chicago Bears.
There wasn't a massive dropoff this season even without Johnson, as Detroit finished fourth in scoring and fifth in yards while largely missing the playoffs because of an inconsistent defense.
Yet the Lions still parted ways with offensive coordinator John Morton after the season, which wasn't surprising considering he was stripped of play-calling duties in November. Campbell took over at the time but surely hopes Petzing can shoulder more of the offensive responsibility moving forward after this hire.
Petzing has been on staffs for the Cleveland Browns, Minnesota Vikings and Arizona Cardinals and was Arizona's OC the last three years.
The Cardinals were just 23rd in scoring and 19th in yardage this past season, although it finished 12th in scoring the previous season.
While those numbers are anything but inspiring, it should be noted Petzing will be working with far more offensive talent in Detroit than he was in Arizona. Kyler Murray was limited to just five games in 2025, which forced the Cardinals to adjust with Jacoby Brissett under center.
The Lions will have St. Brown, Jared Goff, Jahmyr Gibbs and others leading the way, and the go-to receiver believes fans should be more patient before rushing to judgment.
