Josh Allen Injury Update, Timeline for Recovery Revealed by Bills GM After NFL Playoff Loss
After losing to the Denver Broncos in the Divisional Round of the NFL playoffs, it sounds like Buffalo Bills star quarterback Josh Allen could be on the shelf for a portion of the offseason.
Per ESPN's Adam Schefter, Bills general manager Brandon Beane announced on Wednesday that Allen "might" need to undergo a procedure on his injured foot, but if he does, he "should be ready" in time for OTAs.
Allen originally injured his right foot in a Week 16 win over the Cleveland Browns and re-aggravated it the following week in a loss against the Philadelphia Eagles. He underwent X-rays that came back negative at the time and didn't miss a subsequent start despite being listed with right foot, left knee and right finger injuries ahead of the matchup against the Broncos.
Unfortunately, Allen didn't play to his usual standard in his final showing of the 2025 season. The 2024 NFL MVP threw two interceptions and lost two fumbles as Buffalo suffered a 33-30 loss to Denver in overtime.
After the game, Allen couldn't hold back his emotions in his post-game press conference, telling reporters that he felt he "let my teammates down tonight."
"Just missed opportunities throughout the game," Allen said of the reason for his emotions. "It's been a long season. I hate how it ended, and that's going to stick with me for a long time."
The Bills made a swift decision to fire head coach Sean McDermott after the devastating loss, creating some uncertainty surrounding the direction of the franchise entering the offseason. However, Allen's presence makes Buffalo one of the top coaching landing spots, and it appears that he will be healthy heading into the 2026 campaign as the team tries to make another run at an elusive Super Bowl title.
