Tyreek Hill Posts Cryptic Tweet, References Mike McDaniel's Reported Hire As Chargers OC

Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill stirred the pot a bit upon learning former coach Mike McDaniel could be on his way to Southern California.

"Mike to the chargers hm," Hill posted Wednesday on social media:

ESPN's Adam Schefter and Jeff Darlington reported Tuesday night the Los Angeles Chargers are expected to bring McDaniel in as their next offensive coordinator. He'd take over for Greg Roman.

The most obvious explanation behind the cryptic message is that Hill wouldn't mind a change of scenery.

The Dolphins are hitting the reset button with a new head coach (Jeff Hafley) and general manager (Jon-Eric Sullivan) in place. To that end, they may want to shed Hill's expiring contract.

The eight-time Pro Bowler is also recovering from a knee injury that was serious enough to throw his playing career in some doubt.

Assuming Hill wants to keep playing and he's no longer on the Dolphins, the Chargers would be an attractive destination. He'd get to line up alongside quarterback Justin Herbert and play for an offensive coordinator who helped him enjoy his two best seasons in the NFL.

Between 2022 and 2023, Hill averaged 106.3 receiving yards per game and had 20 touchdown catches. Even if the knee injury has sapped some of his speed and athleticism, McDaniel is one of the coaches who could potentially map out a way to make him effective in a limited role.

Of course, there could've been a totally different meaning to Hill's message. Maybe he was making a broad assessment about McDaniel's fit in Los Angeles, be it positive or negative.

The veteran wideout probably knew exactly what he was doing, though, by being so ambiguous and letting fans drawn their own conclusions.
