Hudson Going on DL
Friday, July 31
According to Andrew Baggarly of CSNBayArea.com, Hudson said that he will be going on the disabled list.
Hudson also provided details of his injury to Baggarly, though the veteran hurler did not get into specifics:
The 40-year-old Hudson has struggled this season, posting a 4.80 ERA with 117 hits allowed in 101.1 innings. He's been susceptible to injuries throughout his career, making at least 30 starts just three times since 2009.
Fortunately for the Giants, they were able to bolster their rotation before the trade deadline by acquiring Mike Leake from Cincinnati to take Hudson's spot, per MLB.com's Mark Sheldon.
While Hudson's absence does create problems for the Giants' depth, Leake's presence softens the blow faced by the defending champions as they look to make a playoff push.
