Latest Cardinals Rumors on Joe Brady, HC Search After Saleh to Titans, Hafley to Dolphins

The Arizona Cardinals could be pivoting their head coaching search toward Buffalo Bills offensive coordinator Joe Brady after missing out on hiring Robert Saleh and Jeff Hafley.

The Cardinals interviewed Brady for their head coaching vacancy on Tuesday, NFL Network's Mike Garafolo and Ian Rapoport reported.

He could additionally be considered as a potential candidate to replace former head coach Sean McDermott in Buffalo.

On Saturday, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reported Anthony Weaver is set for a second interview with the team, noting he is also a finalist for the Pittsburgh Steelers' head coaching vacancy.

Jeremy Fowler of ESPN reported Friday that Jacksonville Jaguars defensive coordinator Anthony Campanile is "firmly in the mix" for the position as well.

The Cardinals were tied to both Saleh and Hafley before the two candidates were hired by the Tennessee Titans and Miami Dolphins, respectively.

Saleh most recently worked as the San Francisco 49ers defensive coordinator after four seasons as head coach of the New York Jets. He had scheduled a second interview with the Cardinals before his hiring by the Titans, per NFL Network's Tom Pelissero.

Pelissero wrote Monday that Saleh had been planning to "get on the plane to Arizona" if he wasn't hired by Tennessee.

The Cardinals had also requested a second interview with Hafley prior to his hiring by the Dolphins, per Rapoport. The former Green Bay Packers defensive coordinator has since accepted his first NFL head coaching job in Miami.

Arizona could now be turning their focus to a candidate with an offensive background in Brady, who has spent the last four seasons with the Bills as quarterbacks coach and offensive coordinator.

In each of their last two seasons with Brady calling plays, the Bills have ranked top-four in the league in points per game. James Cook recorded an NFL-high 1,621 rushing yards and Josh Allen completed a career-high 69.3 percent of his passes during the 2025 regular season.

That could be a draw for the Cardinals, which ranked 23rd in points during Jonathan Gannon's final season as head coach in 2025.

The Cardinals have a decision to make regarding Kyler Murray, who has been subject to trade or release rumors after he was limited to just five games last season by a foot injury.

How the Cardinals plan to handle Murray's situation going forward could potentially play a role in their ability to sell the job to their next head coach, especially if they have to compete with offers from teams with more secure quarterback situations like those in Baltimore or Buffalo.
