Foles was referencing Super Bowl LII, when he outplayed Tom Brady in the Philadelphia Eagles' 41-33 win over the Pats. Foles had taken over as the starter late in that season after Carson Wentz tore his ACL and was fantastic in the Super Bowl, throwing for 373 yards and three touchdowns while also catching a touchdown pass on the now-famous Philly Special.
While Brady threw for 505 yards and three scores of his own, he also dropped a pass on a trick play and was strip-sacked by Brandon Graham late in the fourth quarter, both crucial mistakes in the loss.
Backup quarterbacks don't generally lead their teams to Super Bowl titles, but Foles is proof that it can happen. Stidham will try to be next.
