Latest Nico Collins Injury Update, Status for Texans' NFL Playoff Game vs. Patriots

Zach BacharJan 16, 2026

The Houston Texans will be missing a key offensive piece for the team's upcoming clash with the New England Patriots in the divisional round of the playoffs.

Texans wide receiver Nico Collins did not clear concussion protocol and will be sidelined against New England, per Jon Poorman of the Houston Chronicle.

Collins previously exited Houston's 30-6 win over the Pittsburgh Steelers in the Wild Card round with a concussion.

Collins' availability against New England was in question leading up to the contest, as he didn't participate in Houston's practices on Wednesday or Thursday. He was also unavailable during Friday's session, via Jonathan M Alexander of the Houston Chronicle.

Collins previously missed the Texans' Week 8 win over the San Francisco 49ers due to a concussion.

The 26-year-old has served as C.J. Stroud's No. 1 receiver this season, earning his second consecutive Pro Bowl nod.

Collins hauled in 71 receptions for a team-high 1,117 yards during the regular season, finding the end zone six times. Stroud owned a 106.0 passer rating when targeting the former Michigan standout, according to Pro Football Focus.

With Collins out, Christian Kirk is expected to continue operating in a larger role following a stellar performance against the Steelers. Kirk reeled in eight catches for a game-high 144 yards and a touchdown in the win.

Jayden Higgins, Xavier Hutchinson and Jaylin Noel could see more playing time with Collins sidelined as well. Tight end Dalton Schultz should also receive plenty of targets.

Kickoff between the Texans and Patriots is on Sunday at 3 p.m. ET.
