NFL Draft 2026 Scouting Report for Baylor QB Sawyer Robertson

Damian ParsonJan 26, 2026

Sawyer Robertson is a talented pocket quarterback with developmental upside in the right situation. He has a near-prototypical build to win from the pocket, with good navigation skills to maneuver and evade the pass rush.

Robertson enrolled as a freshman at Mississippi State before transferring and spending three seasons at Baylor. He's a former 4-star recruit in the 2021 class. Robertson threw for over 3,000 yards and at least 28 touchdowns in back-to-back campaigns.

Where He Wins

1 of 4
Houston v Baylor

- Robertson is a plus-level athlete. He can use his legs to pick up free yards as a scrambler or extend plays to throw outside of the pocket.

- He has good physical size to operate inside the pocket, allowing him to see the field and find throwing lanes.

- Throws with good touch to layer passes. The second-team All-Big 12 performer displays good placement on back-shoulder fades to stop his receiver and pull them away from the cornerback.

- Flashes anticipation throws versus zone coverages to lead his receiver into the open voids within the coverage.

Areas of Improvement

2 of 4
Houston v Baylor

- Robertson's accuracy is spotty. He is inconsistent in placing the ball out of reach of defenders.

- Heavily reliant on hitting his first read through his progression. He struggles to distribute the ball when forced to read the full field.

- He plays with a late trigger and does not hit the open receiver quickly. He needs to be consistent with playing on time and on schedule. Robertson tends to hold the football too long if his first read is covered.

- Arm strength is only above average. His passes tend to lose steam the further he targets someone down the field.
