Originally selected by the Falcons with the No. 8 overall pick in the 2023 NFL draft out of Texas, Robinson has been every bit as good as expected and more.
The 24-year-old Robinson is coming off his best season to date, as he set career highs in rushing yardage (1,478), yards per carry (5.1), receptions (79) and receiving yardage (820).
Robinson also scored 11 total touchdowns en route to earning his second consecutive Pro Bowl nod and his first-ever First Team All-Pro selection.
As a rookie, Robinson was utilized somewhat conservatively by then-head coach Arthur Smith. Even so, he still managed 1,463 yards from scrimmage and eight touchdowns.
Those totals improved to 1,887 total yards and 15 touchdowns under head coach Raheem Morris in 2024, and Robinson followed that up by leading the NFL with 2,298 yards from scrimmage last season.
While Morris was fired following back-to-back 8-9 finishes, Robinson is still expected to be the focal point of Atlanta's offense moving forward under new head coach Kevin Stefanski.
Given his importance to the Falcons' success, it is likely only a matter of time before Robinson receives a long-term contract extension, and exercising the fifth-year option gives the two sides more time to reach an agreement.
Now, Robinson is locked in for at least two more years, which clearly defines the Falcons' offensive identity, even as they search for answers at the quarterback position.
