Stephen Ross Reveals He's Been Offered Nearly $15B to Sell Dolphins, Talks Succession Plan on Video

Miami Dolphins owner Stephen Ross revealed he was offered a significant amount of money to sell the team but is planning on keeping it in the family.

During an interview on Wednesday, he said he was offered nearly $15 billion but turned it down and will instead have his son-in-law Daniel Sillman run the franchise. He then provided more clarification that his daughters will actually be the designated successors even though his son-in-law will "kind of" be in charge:

This offseason is one of transition for the Dolphins, who recently hired new general manager Jon-Eric Sullivan to fill the vacancy that had been there since they parted ways with Chris Grier in October.

What's more, they need a new head coach after firing Mike McDaniel following a 7-10 season. It also remains to be seen whether quarterback Tua Tagovailoa or wide receiver Tyreek Hill will be back with the team for the 2026 campaign.

Selling the team would add another variable of change for the organization, but it seems like Ross has no plans on doing that even with a head-turning offer.

And a $15 billion offer would be rather stunning.

After all, Forbes listed the Dolphins as the NFL's 11th-most valuable franchise in the league in August with a $7.5 billion valuation. The Dallas Cowboys topped the list at $13 billion, which is still less than the apparent offer Ross received.

The sale of the Washington Commanders for $6.05 billion in 2023 set the NFL record for a sale price, but it would be anything but surprising if that total is surpassed by the next team that is up for sale.

It just doesn't seem like that team will be the Dolphins given Ross' latest comments.
