Cowboys Rumors on Eagles' Christian Parker, DC Search After Matt Eberflus Firing

Paul KasabianJan 14, 2026

The Dallas Cowboys have requested to interview Philadelphia Eagles defensive backs coach and pass-game coordinator Christian Parker for their open defensive coordinator position, per NFL insider Jordan Schultz.

The 34-year-old Parker has held his current position since 2024, when he joined the Eagles' coaching staff.

Parker played college football at Richmond as a wide receiver and cornerback before starting his coaching career in 2013 as a defensive backs coach for Virginia State. Two years later, he served as Norfolk State's DB coach.

Parker spent two more seasons in college as a defensive analyst for Notre Dame (2017) and Texas A&M (2018) before moving to the NFL with the Green Bay Packers as their defensive quality control coach. He remained with the team through 2020 before heading to the Denver Broncos as their defensive backs coach.

Parker stayed in Denver for three seasons before heading to Philadelphia under head coach Nick Sirianni, who shook up his offensive and defensive staffs after a disappointing 2023 season. The 2024 Eagles won the Super Bowl in part because of a fantastic playmaking secondary, and Parker was certainly responsible for some of those efforts.

This year's Eagles team featured a pair of All-Pros in the secondary in cornerbacks Quinyon Mitchell and Cooper DeJean.

Dallas is in the market for a new defensive coordinator after parting ways with Matt Eberflus after one season. The Cowboys finished seventh in scoring but dead-last in points allowed per game (30.1). A large part of that was because the Cowboys traded superstar edge-rusher Micah Parsons to the Green Bay Packers last August.

The Cowboys have potential for a playoff run if they can reload on defense and find the right leader, though. Perhaps Parker is the answer. He certainly has the resume for serious consideration.
