NFL Network's Ian Rapoport noted that the Cowboys' gig isn't the only one Gannon is interviewing for. He also has an interview with the Washington Commanders for their defensive coordinator opening on Thursday and will meet with the Tennessee Titans regarding their head coach opening on Sunday.
Gannon was the Cardinals' head coach from 2023 to 2025, going 15-36 during that time and missing the playoffs in all three seasons. Before his time in Arizona, he was the Philadelphia Eagles' defensive coordinator in 2021 and 2022. He's been an NFL coach since 2007, when he got his start with the Atlanta Falcons.
The Cowboys are looking for a replacement for Matt Eberflus, who spent just one season in Dallas. In his sole season with the Cowboys, they had one of the worst defenses in the league, allowing the third-most yards per game (377) and the most points per game (30.1).
