NFL Rumors Update Chargers DC Jesse Minter's Potential HC Landing Spots Amid Raiders Buzz, More
After losing to the New England Patriots in Sunday night's AFC Wild Card game, the Los Angeles Chargers could be on the verge of losing a key member of their coaching staff.
NFL insider Jordan Schultz reported that Chargers defensive coordinator Jesse Minter has been requested for head coaching interviews with the Las Vegas Raiders, Tennessee Titans, Baltimore Ravens and Cleveland Browns.
Minter previously served as defensive coordinator at Michigan under head coach Jim Harbaugh, and he followed Harbaugh to the Chargers in 2024. His impact on the team was evident from the start.

Minter took a unit that ranked 28th in the NFL in 2023 with 362.9 yards allowed per game to 11th in 2024 with 324.4 yards allowed. This season, the Los Angeles defense reached even greater heights, finishing fifth in the league with 285.2 yards allowed.
While the Chargers suffered a disappointing 16-3 loss to the Patriots on Sunday night, Minter's unit shined once again. Patriots star quarterback Drake Maye committed a pair of turnovers with an interception and a lost fumble. Unfortunately, the Chargers' offense wasn't able to keep up as quarterback Justin Herbert was sacked six times in the loss.
Prior to coaching under Harbaugh, Minter had been a member of his brother John Harbaugh's staff with the Baltimore Ravens. Schultz described the 42-year-old as "one of the top coordinator-to-HC candidates in this cycle," so he could be on the verge of taking the next step in his coaching career and taking over a franchise.
Losing Minter would be a bigger blow to a Chargers team that is searching for answers after a second straight disappointing postseason exit, but the chances that Los Angeles will be able to retain him appear to be slim amid rising interest from around the league.
