Kyle Tucker Rumors Updates Latest Buzz on Dodgers, Mets, More Amid 2026 MLB Free Agency

Andrew PetersJan 11, 2026

A handful of teams reportedly have emerged as serious suitors for star free agent Kyle Tucker.

Per MLB Network Radio's Jim Duquette, the Los Angeles Dodgers, Toronto Blue Jays and New York Mets have all met with Tucker, either in person or via Zoom.

Last week, Jon Heyman of the New York Post reported that the Mets are "very much" in the mix for Tucker, noting that the Blue Jays and Dodgers are "stiff" competition.

"The Mets appear to be taking a very serious look at the No. 1 free agent on the market, Kyle Tucker," Heyman said. "Next question: what are the chances to actually sign Tucker? Well, there are only a number of teams that can afford such a player, the Mets being one of them, so I'm not gonna say their chances are nil."

As for the defending champs' chances of landing Tucker, one AL executive relayed to MLB.com's Mark Feinsand that a short-term deal might land him in Los Angeles.

"I can't see the Dodgers signing him to a long-term deal, but if he is open to something shorter, that's the kind of deal [president of baseball operations] Andrew [Friedman] loves," the exec said. "It feels like they're just waiting out the market, because as good as Tucker is, it's not like they need him."

Tucker is one of, if not the most, coveted free agents on the market. The former Houston Astro and Chicago Cub is coming off a season in which he hit 22 home runs and 73 RBI while slashing .266/.377/.464.
