Fans Predict Hot Seat for A.J. Brown, Jalen Hurts, Sirianni, Eagles Offseason After 49ers Loss

Andrew PetersJan 11, 2026

The Philadelphia Eagles are less than a year removed from winning the Super Bowl, but the 2025 campaign ended much differently as they faced a wild-card round upset against the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday.

Quarterback Jalen Hurts had just 168 yards and a touchdown, completing 20 of his 35 pass attempts in the loss. A.J. Brown wrapped up a forgettable season with 25 receiving yards on three receptions.

After the loss, fans pondered whether Brown, Hurts or head coach Nick Sirianni could be on their way out this offseason.

It's hard to pinpoint exactly where the blame should go for the Eagles' struggles. Hurts had a decent season with 3,224 yards and 33 total touchdowns, but he disappeared in some big moments, including during Sunday's wild-card game.

Brown had a down year by his standards, collecting 1,003 yards and seven touchdowns. The wide receiver was also openly frustrated with the team throughout the year.

As the head coach, Sirianni has to shoulder some of the blame, whether that be for decisions he made during games or the decisions he made when he assembled his staff.

Philadelphia clearly has some evaluating to do this offseason. Whether the Eagles feel they need to make a change to the roster or coaching staff remains to be seen.
