Lane Johnson Injury Status for Eagles vs. 49ers Revealed for NFL Playoffs

Julia StumbaughJan 11, 2026

The Philadelphia Eagles will be without right tackle Lane Johnson against the San Francisco 49ers due to his foot injury, Mike Garafolo of NFL Network first reported.

Johnson, who last played on Nov. 16, is currently listed as questionable on the Eagles' injury report.

"He was limited in practice all week, he looked good in spurts, but that's a tough injury. It's a painful injury. I would say that this is a legitimate game-time decision," Garafolo said on NFL GameDay.

Johnson has sat out the last seven games for the Eagles with a Lisfranc sprain. He rejoined practice this week in a limited capacity.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport added, "If Lane Johnson can possibly be out there, he will be. But the concern is real."

ESPN's Jeremy Fowler said earlier in the day on SportsCenter the Eagles were "optimistic" Johnson will be able to return this weekend.

"Even the questionable tag was a little surprising, because he's been trending up," Fowler said about Johnson. "They've been really kind of saving him, the last few weeks, to make sure he is good to go against San Francisco. So that is the plan right now, barring something unforseen, Lane Johnson should be back on the field."

Johnson suffered the Lisfranc sprain during the first quarter of a Week 11 win over the Detroit Lions.

He was not placed on injured reserve after suffering the injury, which Garafolo and Rapoport reported at the time for was expected to sideline him for four to six weeks.

Getting Johnson back for the playoffs would have been a major boost for the Eagles' offensive line. Johnson had allowed zero sacks, zero hits and seven pressures while playing 449 offensive snaps through the first 10 games of the season prior to his injury, per Pro Football Focus.

The latest update means Fred Johnson will likely be called on to make his ninth start of the season. He has allowed two sacks and 18 pressures in 626 offensive snaps, per PFF.

The Niners are dealing with a stacked injury report of their own, with key players including wide receiver Ricky Pearsall and tackle Trent Williams questionable ahead of Sunday's matchup.

Both teams will hope for good injury news by the time the playoffs kick off Sunday at 4:30 p.m. ET at Lincoln Financial Field.
