Trent Williams Injury Update, Latest on Status for 49ers vs. Eagles in NFL Playoffs
San Francisco 49ers offensive tackle Trent Williams is attempting to play while managing a hamstring injury during the team's upcoming Wild Card playoff clash with the Philadelphia Eagles.
Williams told reporters Friday that he's confident he'll suit up against Philadelphia, but a decision on his status will come down to the wire.
He's officially listed as questionable heading into the contest.
Williams didn't participate in San Francisco's Wednesday practice, but was a limited participant in sessions on Thursday and Friday.
The 12-time Pro Bowler suffered the injury on the first offensive play of the 49ers' 42-38 win over the Chicago Bears in Week 17, missing their Week 18 defeat at the hands of the Seattle Seahawks as a result.
Williams appeared in each of San Francisco's first 16 regular-season games before the hamstring issue.
The 37-year-old continued to contribute to the 49ers' offensive success in a big way. Williams ranked No. 6 among all offensive tackles with an 80 percent run-block win rate, via ESPN.
He allowed just four sacks in 593 pass-blocking snaps, according to Pro Football Focus.
San Francisco will be hoping that Williams can suit up against a tough Eagles defensive front. They owned the NFL's fifth-best scoring defense in the regular season by allowing a mere 19.1 points per game.
If he ultimately can't play, Austen Pleasants will serve as the 49ers' starting left tackle.
Kickoff between San Francisco and Philadelphia is set for Sunday at 4:30 p.m. ET.
