Mike ChiariJan 9, 2026

Amber Glenn set a new record Wednesday night with the highest-scoring women's short program ever recorded at the U.S. Figure Skating Championships.

After first watching Alysa Liu set a new mark with a score of 81.11 points, Glenn did even better by scoring 83.05 points to take the lead into the free skate.

Glenn, 26, commented on her historic performance, telling reporters, "I knew that I came here to do my job, and I was happy to see that scores were up, scores were good, and I was able to keep them going up. I felt a responsibility to keep it going better and better and better."

On Saturday, Glenn and Liu take the ice once again in St. Louis for their free skates to determine the 2026 American champion in women's singles.

Regardless of the result, Glenn is in great position to be named to the 2026 Winter Olympic team as the reigning, two-time U.S. champion.
