Madden NFL 16 Player Ratings: Top 5 Cornerbacks Revealed
Madden 16 and the franchise in general are a reflection of the NFL, which means passing offenses often dominate the game. That means having strong corners is a must for success, and EA Sports just released the top five options at the position for this season.
| 1 | Richard Sherman | Seattle Seahawks | 97 | 92 Man Coverage, 99 Zone Coverage, 87 Speed, 99 Play Recognition, 99 Press, 85 Catch, 98 Jump |
| 2 | Darrelle Revis | New York Jets | 97 | 99 Man Coverage, 94 Zone Coverage, 88 SPD, 95 Play Recognition, 87 Press |
| 3 | Vontae Davis | Indianapolis Colts | 95 | 97 Man Coverage, 94 Zone, 88 Speed, 88 Play Recognition |
| 4 | Chris Harris Jr. | Denver Broncos | 94 | 89 Speed, 95 Play Recognition, 98 Man Coverage, 97 Zone Coverage, 78 Press |
| 5 | Sean Smith | Kansas City Chiefs | 91 | 86 Speed, 94 Play Recognition, 93 Man Coverage, 95 Zone Coverage, 97 Press |
The first two selections on this list were no-brainers. Richard Sherman is a dominant force for the Seattle Seahawks, at times taking away an entire side of the field, while Darrelle Revis remains one of the game's most suffocating press-man corners.

It's hard to determine which of the two players is better. What is less difficult to determine is that the pair is by far the class of the cornerback position.
Vontae Davis was a surefire top-five selection as well, as he truly shone for the Indianapolis Colts last season, notching four interceptions and 19 pass deflections. And Chris Harris Jr. established himself as one of the game's top corners a year ago, making the Pro Bowl.
But things get interesting at No. 5, where Sean Smith is a worthy selection, but several other players might make the argument they belong. The Cleveland Browns' Joe Haden certainly could make a strong case, as could the Arizona Cardinals' Patrick Peterson or the Denver Broncos' Aqib Talib. In fact, it was somewhat surprising to see both Haden and Peterson outside of the top five.
But it also means that cornerback is a deep position, and it's certainly always an important one when building a team in Madden. With so many talented options available, players doing a fantasy draft can perhaps wait a few rounds on the position without completely missing out on starter-worthy options given its depth.
