John Harbaugh's Timeline to Begin HC Interviews Reportedly Revealed Amid Giants Rumors

John Harbaugh quickly became one of the most popular head coaching candidates after the Baltimore Ravens fired him on Wednesday, but he's not diving into the interview process immediately.

Per ESPN's Adam Schefter, Harbaugh is not expected to begin interviewing with teams for head coach positions until next week.

The Ravens fired Harbaugh on Tuesday after 18 seasons at the helm. The veteran head coach won a Super Bowl in 2012 and had a career record of 180-113, but Baltimore felt it was time for a change.

NFL insider Jordan Schultz reported that Ravens owner Steve Bisciotti "had grown frustrated" with Harbaugh's lack of playoff success in recent years. Baltimore finished 8-9 this season and missed the postseason for the first time in 2020 after losing to the Pittsburgh Steelers on a missed field goal on Sunday.

The Athletic's Dianna Russini noted that Harbaugh's "refusal to entertain any conversations about potentially moving on from offensive coordinator Todd Monken" was a "pressure point" in his firing.

But while the Ravens ownership may have had frustrations with Harbaugh, he's emerged as one of the most popular candidates in this year's coaching cycle. In the hour after his firing, Harbaugh's agent received calls from seven teams hoping to interview him, according to Schefter.

Harbaugh is "expected to emerge as a favorite" in the New York Giants head coaching search, Schefter noted. According to NFL insider Josina Anderson, the Miami Dolphins, who have yet to fire head coach Mike McDaniel, "have been in touch on" Harbaugh.

The Giants, Dolphins and any other team hoping to land Harbaugh will seemingly have to wait at least a week before talking to him.
