Isaac TeSlaa Talks Rookie Dinner Prank Pulled Off By Lions WRs Amid Viral Bill Photo

Andrew PetersJan 7, 2026

The Detroit Lions' wide receivers pulled off the ultimate rookie prank this season when they convinced Isaac TeSlaa that he had to pay a $41,000 dinner tab.

As part of a tradition, the Lions receiver group went out to dinner at a steakhouse in Detroit, and the rookies were expected to foot the bill. The actual bill was $4,000, but Amon-Ra St. Brown orchestrated a prank that made it seem like it was more than 10 times that amount.

"Well, we got our food or whatever, and then obviously Saint's (Amon-Ra St. Brown) ordering whatever he wants, asking the server what's the most expensive thing you got," TeSlaa told MLive's Kory Woods. "And so then they bring out the bill, and it says $41,000. And me, Dom, and Meeks are looking around at each other like, 'How are we going to cover this? We're going to have to call our credit card companies and let them know there's going to be this huge charge.'

"And so they take our cards, and we're just sitting there sweating, going like this. Then they bring it back. It's only like $4,000, so it wasn't that bad at all. So St. Brown pulled the prank on us."

All rookies have to go through the wringer a bit to earn the veterans' respect, and TeSlaa certainly experienced that this year. But TeSlaa also likely earned respect from his performance on the field.

The third-round draft pick out of Arkansas put together a strong first campaign, recording 239 receiving yards and six touchdowns.
