Cam Newton Teased in Panthers' Hype Video for Home Game vs. Rams in NFL Playoffs

Andrew PetersJan 7, 2026

It appears Cam Newton may play a part in the Carolina Panthers' upcoming playoff game against the Los Angeles Rams.

The Panthers released a hype video for Saturday's game, and Newton's voice was featured in it.

"I know I said I'm back, but in essence, we back," Newton said.

It seems only right that Newton play a part in the Panthers' playoff game, considering it will be Carolina's first postseason appearance since Newton was under center.

Newton, who played for the Panthers from 2011 to 2019 and returned in 2021, led Carolina to three consecutive playoff appearances from 2013 to 2015. He also took the Panthers to one of their two Super Bowl appearances in 2015, the same year in which he won MVP and Offensive Player of the Year.

Carolina also made the playoffs in 2017, but it hasn't been back since then.

Newton is the team's career passing yards and passing touchdowns leader and was a major reason for much of the team's best years. Perhaps his presence will inspire a strong postseason run from Carolina this year.

The Panthers weren't exactly expected to be playoff contenders coming into the season after going 5-12 in 2024 and 2-15 in 2023, but they managed to take advantage of a weak NFC South and reach the postseason despite an 8-9 record.

Carolina's postseason fate came down to the final Sunday of the season. Despite dropping their season finale against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the Panthers managed to clinch the division crown over the Bucs thanks to the Atlanta Falcons' win over the New Orleans Saints.

The Panthers have a tall task ahead of them as they face the Rams, but they'll have home-field advantage and, seemingly, Newton's presence to help them.
