HBO's Mayweather VS Marquez 24/7 Part 3 Get's a B+

King JSep 12, 2009

Episode three opens up with a live band inside the house of Floyd's mother is playing the 90's hit song: This Is How We Do It.

Floyd is seen with his entourage and family reacting to last week's shocking images of his opponent Juan drinking his own urine. Floyd then insults Juan in the untmost way making jokes and mocking himself drinking his own urine. The urine jokes continue to go on for the first 5 minutes of this episode. Floyd acts like he is about to pull his pants down to take a piss and calls his piss gorilla piss.

Then they cut to a 1965 Shelby mustang driven by Juan's trainer Nacho. The narrator makes metaphoric comparisons of this classic muscle car to Marquez the fighter.

Juan is then seen sparring in his final rounds of sparring before the fight. He appears sharp and fast as he batters and bests his spar mate. Nacho then warns Juan that he often gets too over confident by rounds 5 and 6.

Juan then goes to his ritual last blessing at his parent's apartment the same one that he grew up in. Both of Juan's parents bless him and give him last words of encouragement.

Floyd states he can feel when ever his opponent is about to throw a punch. He declares himself a pure boxer with tremendous defense.

Roger then is seen with his kids at home and makes some statements in regards to his trial next month.

Actor Eddie Murphy makes a visit to Mayweather's gym and states he is a big boxing fan and considers Floyd to be one of the all time greats. Roger then forces Eddie to take his boxing quiz. Eddie aces the exam but admits he did watch last week's 24/7 episode where Roger gave away most of the answers.

We learn that Juan's wife does not go to the fights for Juan prefers not to mix business with his personal life. Juan's wife expresses how its hard for their family to be away from their dad during these fights.

Juan's Romanza gym has a media open work out and Oscar De La Hoya is there. Juan is seen hittin the speed bag with power and the media is loving it.

Floyd's open media workout looked more like a 4th of July bbq in front of his gym where all of the media is eating from a bbq buffet. Then an all black armored truck shows up and it is driven by Floyd himself. The narrator states that Floyd just made a grand entrance.

Floyd then states that he does not watch tapes for he can adjust to any fighter. Floyd's camp is not allowed to be asked about their strategy for it seems they get offended when asked for some reason.

Then Juan and his son are seen walking into a huge soccer stadium for Juan is being honored at the Mexico vs Honduras soccer game. Juan jokes that his son will be interviewed and his son says no. One of the Mexican journalists makes a joke to Juan calling it "urine therapy". Juan laughs it off.

The narrator states that this sport of soccer is the nation's: "national religion", and after this the next big event for Mexico will be Juan's fight with Floyd September 19th.

The narrator then describes this fight between Marquez and Mayweather as Mexican Fortitude vs American Swagger.

Although I enjoyed this episode as I enjoyed all of the 24/7 episodes you can not really top Juan's shocking urine drinking footage seen in last week's episode unfortunately. Plus the fact that they already introduced the viewers to all of the legends such as Nacho, and Chavez and showed a more real humble charitable side to Mayweather and his true feelings on patching things up with his father. For all of these reason I give this episode a grade of a B+.

I want to note as I usually do right about this time come episode three that I will most likely not be covering the final episode for again I will actually be in Las Vegas this Friday covering the fight. The main reason again is cause I am a good looking smooth man with game and guys like me do not usually spend Friday nights in their hotel room watching tv when they are in Las Vegas.

So to everyone reading as always thank you and if you have any ideas, questions for coverage or for interviews for any of the fighters this weekend feel free to post a comment or email me.

GOD BLESS,

KING J
