How John Harbaugh's Firing Impacts Lamar Jackson's Ravens Future Amid NFL Trade Rumors
The Baltimore Ravens fired head coach John Harbaugh on Tuesday, and some fans may be wondering about the future of quarterback Lamar Jackson now.
While there's always a chance the team decides to blow it up and start fresh, it seems Jackson has a future in Baltimore.
"Why would [the Ravens] do that?" an NFL executive told Ralph Vacchiano of Fox Sports last week. "Whatever issues they have with him, they're a playoff team every year with Lamar. Who's the quarterback there if they trade him?"
Late this season, there were reports of Jackson falling asleep in meetings, which in turn led to rumors about the Ravens potentially moving on from the two-time MVP. Harbaugh rejected the idea that Jackson fell asleep in meetings, as did Jackson.
The 2025 campaign was a year to forget for both Jackson and the Ravens. After an MVP-caliber season in 2024, Jackson missed four games and finished the year with 2,549 passing yards, 21 touchdowns and seven interceptions, along with 349 rushing yards and two scores on the ground.
The Ravens finished 8-9 and missed the playoffs after Sunday's loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Baltimore is looking for a fresh start at head coach, but keeping Jackson around through the transition seems like a wise move.
