Derrick Henry Reveals Advice to Tyler Loop After Missed Kick in Ravens' Loss on Video

Baltimore Ravens superstar running back Derrick Henry spoke to the media this week about his conversation with kicker Tyler Loop after Loop missed a 44-yard field goal that would have sent the Ravens to the playoffs.

Speaking to reporters in the wake of the Ravens' 26-24, season-ending loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday night, Henry shared some details from his talk with Loop:

"I feel for Tyler," Henry said. ... "I just told him to keep his spirits up, deal with it tonight and then tomorrow the sun rises again. I just told him the story after this is gonna be great for him because God put him in this position to use him as an example. ... Can't wait to see him overcome it on the other side. I just told him to trust God's plan, man. He wouldn't have put him in this position if he wasn't strong enough to handle it."

In the final game of the 2025 NFL regular season, the Ravens and Steelers met in Pittsburgh, and the stakes couldn't have been much higher.

It was a win-or-go-home game with the victor securing the AFC North title and a home playoff game in the AFC Wild Card Round.

The bitter rivals traded the lead four times in the fourth quarter, and the Steelers went ahead with 55 seconds remaining thanks to a 26-yard touchdown pass from Aaron Rodgers to Calvin Austin III.

Coincidentally, Loop's kicking counterpart, Chris Boswell, missed the extra point, which set the stage for Loop to potentially win it for his team with a field goal.

Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson quickly worked Baltimore into field goal position, hitting tight end Isaiah Likely for a clutch, 26-yard gain on 4th-and-7.

The ball was then centered for Loop from 44 yards out, but it was immediately clear that he mistimed his kick, pushing it wide to the right and setting off a raucous celebration by the Steelers and their fans.

Despite the disappointing ending, Loop spoke to the media after the game and took responsibility for the miss:

"Just want to say I'm super grateful to Baltimore, the organization and the city, just how they embraced me this year has been incredible. Just for it to end like that, sucks, and I want to do better," Loop said. "Unfortunately, the nature of the job is you have makes, and those are awesome, and unfortunately, you have misses, and for that to happen tonight sucks."

Loop, 24, is a rookie sixth-round pick who was tasked with replacing one of the greatest kickers of all time this season, as the Ravens chose him to succeed Justin Tucker.

Despite missing the biggest kick of the season, Loop was largely up to the challenge, making 30 of his 34 field goal attempts and 44 of his 46 extra point tries.

While much of the blame was inevitably placed on his shoulders, the Ravens committed turnovers and had defensive breakdowns that allowed the Steelers to take the lead in the first place.

As Henry alluded to, Loop has a long career ahead of him and there will be more high-pressure kicks in his future. If and when he makes those kicks, it could go a long way toward easing the sting of the miss against Pittsburgh.
