'I Thought We Had It In The Bag,' Lamar Jackson Reacts to Ravens' Loss to Steelers

Andrew PetersJan 5, 2026

The Baltimore Ravens were a 44-yard field goal away from reaching the playoffs, but Tyler Loop's kick missed to the right.

After the 26-24 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers, Lamar Jackson couldn't believe his squad fell short.

"I thought we had it in the bag," Jackson told reporters after the game.

Jackson has had a disappointing season by his standards as he missed a handful of games due to injuries, but he did just about everything he could to put the Ravens in a position to win on Sunday. He finished with 238 yards and three touchdowns in the loss.

Jackson was especially impressive in a chaotic fourth quarter. He found Zay Flowers on a 50-yard touchdown pass with just under nine minutes to play, giving Baltimore a 17-13 lead, but the Steelers answered with a score of their own.

Around the two-minute mark, as the Ravens trailed by four, Jackson found Flower again, this time on a 64-yard touchdown pass. Pittsburgh answered, but missed the extra point.

A good kick return and a 26-yard pass from Jackson to Isaiah Likely put the Ravens in field goal position, but Jackson could only watch as Loop's kick missed.

Now, the Ravens will be absent from the playoffs for the first time since 2020, and they have a long offseason ahead of them trying to figure out what went wrong.

"I'm stunned right now," Jackson told reporters. "I'm still trying to process what's going on."
