Ja'Marr Chase Questions Browns vs. Bengals Stopping to Celebrate Myles Garrett Record

Andrew PetersJan 4, 2026

Ja'Marr Chase was not a fan of the celebration for Cleveland Browns' Myles Garrett after he broke the NFL single-season sack record on Sunday.

The Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver said the Browns should have been flagged for coming on the field after Garrett recorded his 23rd sack.

"I never knew you could let the whole team get on your field," Chase said. "That's like me catching my 10th pass and the whole team running on the field. We would get flagged. You can't do that. Congrats to him and everything, but they gotta call on a flag on that play... We were trying to hurry up to. The refs were looking at us like we did something wrong the whole time."

Chase also said he expects the same treatment when he breaks a record.

"They better stop the game when I do something in my back end (of career)," he said. "That's all I got to say about that one."

Bengals head coach Zac Taylor also gave his thoughts on the situation:

Garrett's record-setting sack and celebration came in the fourth quarter as the Bengals looked to take the lead. Cincinnati went on to lose 20-18 on a field goal as time expired.
