Drake Maye Hailed as NFL MVP by Fans After Patriots Close Season with Win vs. Dolphins

Drake Maye and the New England Patriots closed the regular season with a dominant 38-10 home win over the Miami Dolphins on Sunday.

The victory lifted New England to 14-3. The Denver Broncos will hold onto the No. 1 seed, although the Patriots are in good shape heading into the playoffs as the No. 2 seed after the latest win.

Miami, which entered the matchup already eliminated from playoff contention, fell to 7-10.

Maye finished the regular-season finale with 191 passing yards and one touchdown, completing 14-of-18 passes. He connected with Rhamondre Stevenson for a score, and Stevenson added two rushing touchdowns while totaling 131 yards on the ground. TreVeyon Henderson also scored twice on the ground for New England.

Fans hailed Maye as the MVP after the second-year quarterback led New England to a season-ending win over the Miami Dolphins.

Maye finished his sophomore NFL season with 4,394 passing yards, 31 touchdowns and eight interceptions, posting a 76.6 passer rating. He is battling Matthew Stafford (−135) as the favorite to win MVP, with Maye listed at +105 per DraftKings Sportsbook.

In Sunday's win, Maye and the New England Patriots totaled 457 yards of offense compared to 180 for the Miami Dolphins. New England dominated on the ground with 243 rushing yards and held Miami to just 63. The Patriots finished the game without a turnover, while the defense forced two.

New England's efficient season finale was an encouraging sign heading into the postseason. The Patriots will await confirmation of their Week 1 playoff opponent, which is trending toward the Los Angeles Chargers.
