Sam Darnold Earns $1M Contract Bonus as Seahawks Clinch NFC's No. 1 Seed in Win
Seattle Seahawks quarterback Sam Darnold picked up an extra $1 million in incentives while helping his team clinch the top seed in the NFC on Saturday night.
Darnold eclipsed a season-long total of 4,000 passing yards in the Seahawks' 13-3 win over the San Francisco 49ers to trigger a $500,000 incentive in his contract, according to Spotrac.
He also improved his passing percentage this season above 67.5 percent in order to trigger another $500,000 bonus, per Spotrac.

The Seahawks quarterback finished the Week 18 victory having gone 20-for-26 with 198 passing yards.
Darnold left $1 million in incentives on the table in the win, including another $500,000 for 28 touchdown passes this season, per Spotrac.
He will instead finish with 25 touchdown passes after a Saturday win during which the Seahawks relied heavily on their run game.
Seattle out-rushed the Niners by 136 yards to 53 yards as Zach Charbonnet ran in the only touchdown of the game.
Darnold could also have collected another $500,000 by raising his season-long passer rating from 99.2 to 100, per Spotrac. He ultimately finished Saturday's game with a passer rating of 97.92.
Darnold, who has already guaranteed himself another $500,000 incentive by helping the Seahawks make the playoffs, will have another $2 million in bonuses on the line during Seattle's upcoming postseason run.
The quarterback could earn $1 million for a divisional game win, $1.5 million for a conference championship win and $2 million for a Super Bowl win, per Spotrac.
Thanks to Saturday's win, Darnold will now get to start out that playoff run with a first-round bye followed by home-field advantage.
