BS Meter on Latest Dominik Mysterio Injury Rumors, LA Knight's WWE Return, More
Entering a new year, the pro wrestling rumor mill typically needs to recharge a bit while ramping up toward WrestleMania season.
Not 2026.
Last year closed on a high note with the John Cena retirement tour while WWE put on major PLE events and AEW matched with big year-end events, too.
Now, the burn to 'Mania season starts on a higher note than it has in the past. The weekly rumors say as much, too, when there are rumblings about major stars returning from injury, past WrestleMania event happenings and more as headline items.
In order to help fans keep up, let's throw the most notable rumors against a BS Meter, with 10 being the highest form of unbelievable buzz fans can safely dismiss.
Tony Hinchcliffe update with WWE
1 of 4
The Rumor
It wouldn't be WWE without buzz around notable non-wrestlers. According to Fightful Select (h/t Tom Araya of Rajah.com), WWE will have future plans with comedian Tony Hinchcliffe despite past cancellations.
Reaction
There were some online fans questioning whether WWE would keep working with Hinchcliffe after the unexpected cancellation of last year's SummerSlam Late Night show. The company hasn't fully cut ties with him, but that was the big event between the two that remains in the minds of fans.
BS Meter: 1
It's hard to envision WWE fully cutting ties with pretty much anyone. That includes Hinchcliffe, a well-known comedian who can help promote the product. Plans change, so one event getting canceled doesn't seem like that big of a deal in hindsight.
WrestleMania 39 main event fallout
2 of 4
The Rumor
Yes, the WrestleMania 39 main event continues to dominate conversations. This time, it's Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Radio reporting (h/t Randall Ortman of Cageside Seats) that it was Roman Reigns who pitched the idea of beating Cody Rhodes, with help from Paul Heyman.
Reaction
The decision was clearly the right one. That snapshot of Rhodes looking lost in the ring after the unexpected defeat is iconic and a key part of his story. There were some bumps along the way to get him his win one year later, but it all worked out.
BS Meter: 5
This one is right in the middle. Reigns and Heyman undoubtedly had input. But they probably weren't the only ones wondering if Rhodes should come up short so that WWE could keep the Bloodline saga going strong for another year. And again, it all worked out great.
LA Knight return speculation
3 of 4
The Rumor
WWE fans haven't seen LA Knight in a WWE ring since early December after a few consecutive losses. According to BodySlam.net (h/t Ortman), though, Knight will be back "very soon" and likely on a possible episode of Raw.
Reaction
A little cooling-off period for Knight wasn't totally unexpected, honestly. He's been a workhorse for WWE for a long time now, and his time away over the last month comes at a part of the calendar one might even consider the "offseason" for pro wrestling.
BS Meter: 1
There hasn't been any tangible reporting around a Knight injury. But given his fan favorite status, his absence has been notable. Ramping him back up in January before the road to 'Mania would make a ton of sense.
Dominik Mysterio buzz
4 of 4
The Rumor
Dominik Mysterio recently suffered a shoulder injury that will keep him out of action. But according to Meltzer (h/t Ortman), Mysterio could only miss upwards of a month.
Reaction
The reported timeline puts Mysterio on a timetable to have him back in action around the Royal Rumble. That's a good sign, and a typical return date for injuries, so the fact it's already being floated as such bodes well.
BS Meter: 1
Judgment Day and the surrounding Superstars will be just fine while Mysterio misses a little time. Absence might even make the heart grow fonder when it comes to Mysterio and fans. He's not going to stop being a headline act anytime soon, so a big return for the 'Mania road might boost things even more.
