Zach BacharJan 2, 2026

"I'm committed to winning," Garrett told reporters Friday. "If it's the same thing upstairs, then I'm all on board."

The Browns sit at 4-12 during the 2025 season, missing the playoffs for the seventh time in Garrett's nine years with the team.

The 30-year-old still established himself as one of the NFL's top defensive players despite Cleveland's overall struggles, earning seven Pro Bowl nods and four First Team All-Proย selections.

Garrett was alsoย namedย Defensive Player of the Year for the 2023 season.

He's in the midst of a dominant 2025 campaign, as his 22 sacks are just one shy of a new single-season NFL record. Garrett has also compiled 37 quarterback hits, 32 tackles for loss and three forced fumbles this year.

He previouslyย requested a tradeย from the Browns in Feb. 2025, citing his "desire to win" as a reason why.

Garrett eventually remained in Cleveland afterย signingย a four-year extension averaging $40 million per year and containing $123 million in guaranteed money just over one month later.

On Friday, Garrett discussed whether the Browns' conversations with him about their overall future prior to the extension still held up.

"Maybe a little bit," Garrett said, per ESPN's Daniel Oyefusi. "But at the end of the day, not everything goes as planned. Everything that you want to happen [doesn't] come to fruition. Can't hold too much against them. It's not like they can see the future. But, gotta worry about it next year."

While the Browns' defense has performed admirably during the 2025 season, offensive issues have been consistent throughout the year. Their averages of 16.2 points and 266.0 total yards per gameย rankย No. 31 and No. 30 in the NFL, respectively.

With just one game remaining in Cleveland's 2025 campaign, Garrett is expecting the team to make the necessary offseason moves to take a step forward in 2026.
