Micah Parsons Defends Trevon Diggs from Critic After Cowboys Exit, Packers Contract

Green Bay Packers pass-rusher Micah Parsons took to social media on Thursday to stand up for cornerback Trevon Diggs, who was claimed off waivers by the Packers on Wednesday.

Parsons responded to a post by Dallas Cowboys blogger Dan Rogers, who criticized Diggs' play and listed his year-by-year Pro Football Focus grades.

A teammate of Diggs with the Cowboys from 2021 to 2024, Parsons wrote: "I feel like what point is there in trying to publicly disrespect someone? He's not representing the star anymore, just give the man a farewell and wish him the best. I don't know why everything has to be negative every time a break-up happens! He's in a better situation rn, trust me! Bro's gonna be great again!"

The Cowboys waived Diggs on Tuesday, which paved the way for him to reunite with Parsons in Green Bay.

Following a contract dispute, the Cowboys traded Parsons to the Packers in August, ending his four-year run with the organization.

While Parsons became the first player in NFL history to record 12 or more sacks in each of his first five seasons, he suffered a torn ACL last month, ending his season after 14 games.

There were major concerns about how Dallas' defense would fare after trading away its best player, and those fears were realized throughout the 2025 season.

The Cowboys are 30th in the league in total defense and 32nd in scoring defense, which is a big reason why they are only 7-8-1 and missed the playoffs.

They also have the worst pass defense in the NFL, allowing 253.6 yards per game through the air, and much of the criticism for those struggles were directed toward Diggs.

After starring collegiately at Alabama, Diggs went 51st overall to the Cowboys in the second round of the 2020 NFL draft.

Early returns were great, as Diggs recorded three interceptions as a rookie and then led the league with 11 in 2021, earning him Pro Bowl and First Team All-Pro honors. Diggs was named a Pro Bowler in 2022 as well.

However, things have gone downhill for Diggs since then, as injuries limited him to two games in 2023, 11 games in 2024 and eight games so far this season.

The 27-year-old Diggs has a total of three interceptions over the past three seasons, including none this season, after racking up 17 picks in his first three campaigns.

A strong argument can be made that Diggs has regressed, but claiming him is perhaps a worthwhile gamble for a Packers team short on cornerback depth due to Ellis Hobbs being placed on injured reserve.

Diggs may not immediately supplant starters Keisean Nixon and Carrington Valentine, but he has a chance to play a meaningful role as soon as Sunday when Green Bay faces the Minnesota Vikings in the team's regular-season finale.

The Packers will then move on to the playoffs as the No. 7 seed in the NFC, meaning they must win three road games in order to reach the Super Bowl.

Doing so without Parsons will be a massive challenge, but Diggs brings some experience and a track record of success to a unit that has struggled over the past several weeks.
