Latest Maxx Crosby Injury Rumors, Would've Been 'Unreasonable' for Raiders DE to Play
Doctors consulted by the Las Vegas Raiders deemed it "unreasonable" to have defensive end Maxx Crosby finish out the 2025 NFL regular season, according to The MMQB's Albert Breer.
The Raiders announced last week they placed Crosby on injured reserve "after deliberate and thorough consultation with multiple top medical professionals." He was absent for Sunday's 34-10 loss to the New York Giants.

Breer reported that nobody doubts the five-time Pro Bowler is dealing with a knee injury that will require surgery.
"The gray area was how long he could play before shutting it down," the NFL insider said.
Per Breer, doctors told the Raiders that "the damage was much greater than it had been earlier in the season." Therefore, putting Crosby on IR was the sensible call.
The veteran pass-rusher met with his own doctors, who said he could suit up for the final two weeks without making the injury worse.
Crosby was clearly displeased with the IR designation. He "vehemently disagreed" with the decision, per Fox Sports' Jay Glazer, and left the team's facility altogether. Multiple recent posts on social media, which included him playing basketball and jumping on a trampoline, didn't seem coincidental, either.
Speculation over the 28-year-old's future in Las Vegas is beginning to grow. The Raiders are clearly facing a rebuild, and trading Crosby would save them a lot of money in 2026.
Glazer followed up Sunday and said he was unsure whether Crosby, who previously reiterated his desire to stick with the Raiders, is as committed now. He suggested that "there's some massaging that has to happen."
Breer is equally hesitant to assume the decorated defender will be in Vegas once the 2026 season kicks off.
"My sense is this will likely lead Crosby to consider all of his options," he wrote.
"He'll be 29 by the start of next season and has a lot of mileage on his body after finishing each of the past three seasons hurt. His contract is tradeable, and the Raiders still look like they're a couple of good offseasons away from contending."
The Raiders still have one game left. They host the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday at Allegiant Stadium.
Once that's over, the drama surrounding Crosby could start to really intensify.
